Last week when Emma came home from summer school she quickly told me of an experience she had with two girls there. The girls had learned that Emma is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, aka Mormon.
The girls began to ask her questions about what she/the church believes in. One girl asked if Emma believes that if people die they come back as someone else. Emma answered "no". The second girl made a statement. She said, "Jesus isn't real, he is a fairytale like Cinderella." Emma said a few things that she couldn't remember when she told me the story. She said it was hard to know what to say because the girl was so persistent. But then she remembered the 1st article of faith, so she recited it. "We believe in God the Eternal Father and in His son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost." The girl was quite and Emma felt good that she was able to get her point across.
This conversation Emma told me about has been on my mind ever since. I am amazed that someone believes that Jesus is a fairytale. It got me thinking, are there others that believe this too? I am sure there are. It breaks my heart.
I know without a doubt that Jesus walked the the earth I know that he died for us so we can live again. Death is not the end, there is so much more. We have a purpose. It brings me peace knowing this. I am grateful for a loving Heavenly Father that hasn't left us alone he continues to give us direction. I know Jesus lives still.
