March 2009 

I put some new/used shoes on Abby that are a size bigger.  I asked, "How do they feel?  Do they feel too big or just right?"

Abby said, "I want you to choose."

I respond, "Oh, but I can't feel them they are not on my feet."

Abby walks over and puts her feet/shoes on top of mine.

I couldn't stop laughing.  She thought it was funny that when her feet would go on mine I would laugh.

April 2009

Emma was putting her hand in the sunlight and out of the sunlight.  Then she said, "Mom, sunlight doesn't feel like anything.  That is because it is made of cheese."  

A friend at school told her that the sun is made of cheese. Emma believes her friend more than me... I can't believe it!! ;)

Abby put Ma's bra on and walked around saying, "I'm gonna feed babies."

What to do???

A while ago I put all of my children into one 10 x 10 room to sleep.  As you can imagine it was very crowded!!  But it doesn't seem too bad.  

The one thing that had to go was the door.

But, when a door goes missing who wants to see this...

when you walk down the hall?  Not I.

So, I nailed up some sheets with pretty flowers from my wedding almost 9 years ago!  As you can imagine the sheets stayed up for, um, a few hours.  LOL

So, to Home Depot we went.  We cut some wood, slid the top of the sheet over the pole, and viola we have closet and bed privacy.

Now, doesn't that look sooo much better??

Spider Man

Every time I try to get rid of spider man David lets me know that he is not ready to get rid of the dancing and singing guy.

So now that he has a good rip I thought I would be able to send him packing, after all he is broken.

David assured me that we can fix him.

So I did...

I guess spider man needs to stay a little longer.  :(  -Ma

Twister

For Family Home Evening we played a game of Twister!!

We couldn't figure out how to explain the rules to their understanding.

But they had fun anyways!!

Jacob's new favorite word this last week has been....

Big emphasis on H.  And the Y is drug out.

And always a HUGE SMILE!

We ask, "Jacob, are you Happy?"

Then he gets on his kick, saying happy over and over and over again.  -Ma

You Are...

It was October 2005.  

Pa was invited to go to California for a couple of days for a convention for work.  In turn he invited his family to go with him.

Of course we went.  Hotel paid for, plus most of our gasoline was paid for and even some meals and a night free in a section of Disney land.  No lines and free all you can eat!  It was awesome.

The hard part...

I was stuck in a hotel all day, because I wasn't about to take out a 3 year old, 23 month old and a 3 month old all by myself.  I don't really remember what I did during those hours with just the kids, but I do remember that it was wonderful when Pa was back with us.

I do remember, because it was a "business trip" there weren't very many kids around.  We got a lot of LOOKS.

We had so much fun!

I remember the night we were at Disney Land, a young lady came up to me.  She said, come here.  I was hesitant, but she seemed nice.  

The lady leaned up to me and whispered in my ear,

"I think, 

women like you.

Who have multiple children,

are PHENOMENAL!"

Whoa!  That was a first, but it was a wonderful first.

I remember that comment almost every day, I am phenomenal!  

There are many many many days that I feel far from phenomenal, but ya know I am making it work!  Despite the many flaws I have.

Being a Mom is the best thing I can be right now, it is what life is all about... Family!

So to all you moms out there if there is one thing you can remember each day, whether you have one or more than one kiddo,

You are phenomenal!!

"They" say...

that the biggest fear for little children is abandonment.  Kids are terrified that they will be left behind.

"They" say that all it takes is one time for a child to feel or think that they have been left alone to have abandonment issues for the rest of their lives.  And really they wont even know why.

With that being said, I went with my M.I.L. to a store.  Jacob was in the back seat. Upon arriving Jacob yelped out, "MAMA!"  I kind of chuckled because I remembered he was there, in the back seat but he was worried that I did not remember.

But then I was a little sad that little ones have this fear.  -Ma

 

White Knuckle Driving

My knuckles were white, palms sweating.  I could feel my stomach in my throat.  I had a slice of peanut butter flax seed toast in the passenger seat.

As I got out of the car I felt like my legs were going to give out, they felt like jelly.  My hands were shaking and I felt a bit dizzy.

I made it to the first of a two day class in Phoenix.  My nerves were shot, how could I possibly learn about Life Insurance after a drive like that?

One hour of driving FREEWAYS!  Oh the fear, the agony, I felt I could barely survive!

Really... I am a country girl at heart.  I can't bring myself to enjoy this city driving.  -Ma

Emma, Do you like school?

I asked Emma if she likes her old school better or her new school.  She said, "I like my new school better."

I asked why?  Emma said, "because I have lots of friends!!"

Let her be little, as long a possible.

This was a writing project in Emma's 2nd grade class.  I have heard stories from other mothers and their 2nd grade kids.  Teachers talking about style, watching American Idol to see the styles.

So naturally I asked Emma, "Do you want a cell phone?"  She replied, "No, it was my teachers idea.  I didn't get to finish writing."

Pa and I don't even have a real cell phone why would she want one??

Garden

Our first crop of grapes.

They only got as big as my pinky finger nail, but they were sweet.

Our banana trees grew really well, but did not produce.

We need to figure out what kind of fertilizer they like.

The tall tree bent in half, so we had to cut it about 6 inches

or so from the ground it is coming back strong.

Lemons, yum!

With the birds and the squirrels we only got to eat one apple and it was tasty!

Corn didn't grow as well as last year.

Sunflowers were funny.

The stems were so skinny.

Tomatoes were great, just needed more fertilizer for better taste.

Carrots needed fertilizer, they were GROSS!!

I remember thinking when I took this picture that the chickens

really needed to get out of this little run and into the large run.

Now I laugh, because I realize how spoiled our chickens are.

Father and son's

May 1st & 2nd, 2009

Every year our church has a fathers and sons camp out.  This year Jacob got to go, I can't believe I sent my not even 2 year old out into the wilderness.

Here are the boys all ready for their adventures.

I attached whistles to the little ones and I kept telling them,

"If you get lost, blow this whistle as loud as you can."

Pa let David out of the van, but made sure he stayed

next to the van, while Pa took pictures.

All safely packed up and ready to head home.

My heart can beat at a normal pace now, till next year.

While the boys were gone we girls bought the movie, Barbie and the Diamond Castle.  We ate ice cream, watched the movie twice, I think.  And all 3 of us slept in my bed.  -Ma

Lake Roosevelt, Coming Home

So, when we go camping or on any vacation for that matter, we have a map on hand and we have a general plan of where we would like to go.  Load up the van and away we go!

This time was no different.  We knew we wanted to go camping, and we wanted to stay close. We went to the first campground and found that it was FULL.  Okay, lets go to the next one, the next one was FULL.  We continued on like this for quite a while, everything was FULL!

We ended up on a dirt road with a camper trailer hitched to our mini van.  We then found our way to a Lake Roosevelt camp ground.  There were lots of openings, we quickly got set up, ate dinner, spent a little time at the lake then we just enjoyed each others company.

We got to see bats flying around.  David was so excited!  He has a love for bats.  That is what he would like to be for halloween.  I've got to get that costume made...

It was time to get everyone tucked into bed.  The kids sleep at the end of the camper.  I was getting them dressed for bed I think, and Pa walked to the back of the camper with the rest of us and we tipped on the butt of the camper.  All of these thoughts came to mind, I had visions of us rolling down the hill passed many trees.  I could see us rolling faster and faster.  LOL, we didn't go anywhere.  We got the camper back to it's proper way and Pa put the legs down, so it wouldn't happen again.  I think everyone that owns a camper has to have that happen at least once.  Looking back I am glad that it did happen not just because it is funny but because that was the last time we went out in it.  We sold it a few months later.  We had good times with it and miss it at times, but we are excited to pull out our dusty tent next time we go out camping.

So, these photo's are of us coming home from Lake Roosevelt.

I am always in awe we I see large structures.  It is amazing to me that people can do this.

Pa and I talk a lot about where we live.  Yes it is soooo HOT in the summer.

But, just look at was it around us.  We can drive about 15 to 30 minute from our house and be at a lake.  Or on a mountain.  We are really blessed to be in a place such as this.
