ENT

Went to the Ear Nose and Throat Doctor today.

Doctor recognized us immediately.

I was impressed.

He hadn't seen us in almost two years.

When David had his tonsils out.

Emma needed to get her ears cleaned out.

Emma's wax was so packed in there that he couldn't get it very well.

The wax even clogged 3 of his tools.

I was advised to put mineral oil in her ears for 2 weeks.

And then return.

I told the doctor that I will be back in a few weeks with Jacob.

Out of curiosity the Dr. asked, "Why?"

I said, "I think he is tongue tied."

Dr. asked Jacob to stick out his tongue.

Dr. looks at me with a sad look and said,

"He is."

I then asked, "Can you take one co pay for two kids?"

He frowned and said, "No."

Of course!

He then gave me a sheet of paper that gives step by step instructions to

clean Emma's ears out all by myself.

Jacob will need to be put out for 2 minutes to have the connector piece under his tongue clipped.

Not sure if he will need therapy yet.

Poor guy has had the most painful life so far.

It all started with his collar bone braking during delivery.

He is a very tough kid.

Respect

My kids go to a very unique school.  It is operated out of the principal's home.  I really do like it.  I just found out last week that a neighbor is upset about us parents... (I haven't done this) most of the parents will pick up there child(ren) and then turn around in the neighbors driveway.  I can see why she doesn't like this, the road is asphalt and the driveway is dirt.  When cars pull in and out over and over again it causes the dirt to wear down making a pot hole.  Now who would be okay with this?  I would complain.

Police were involved and parents were upset that they were being asked to stop.  Silly.

One of the mothers started to talk to me about the situation.  I said that I could understand their frustration and that we should really respect their property.  She said, "I don't see what the big deal is, we are just turning around!"

Why is it that so many people forget how to respect other peoples wishes?  It wont hurt us to go around the block.

So, this morning I was proceeding to go around the block and a parent was behind me.  I was going a decent speed.  I turn on a different street than they did.  As she sped up to go past me she honked.  Why?  I don't know.  I turned on my blinker.  Is the light bulb out?  She was behind me from the time we left the school.  There are only 80 students going to the school.  Why do that to someone?  It is just RUDE!!  It makes me so sad that people can't just be nice.  Ya know maybe she was just having a bad day, maybe she was mad at her kids or husband.  Maybe she was late for work.  I don't know.  It was just a very RUDE thing to do.

I think that people nowadays feel that they are entitled to do what ever they please, even if it hurts someone else.  Just because they want to or because they want something.

Okay, now that that is off my chest.

We ended up having spaghetti and green beans last night.  Right after dinner was all cleaned up Emma came and sat on my lap and said, "Mom, I'm hungry.  Can I get something to eat?"  What????  Sure you can get something to eat... spaghetti is in the fridge.  AARRRGH!!!

I didn't exercise this morning.  I am going out visiting teaching.

I need to regroup, read the lesson.  Need to bring peace to my soul.  I love the sisters I get to visit with.  It is always a good day when I get to visit with them.

Nice Day

I exercised this morning.  I think it has been since October since I have used my air climber, it was a little dusty.  It felt nice to use it again.

I went to warm up the eggs that Pa made this morning and I found cookies and cake in the microwave.  I sure do have a sweet tooth.  I should exercise again tomorrow.  *sigh*

Weather is much warmer today.  Kids have been asking for shorts.  So, today I pulled out the totes of old clothes and found shorts.  They are all very excited for "new clothes".  I really do LOVE hand me downs.

Been working on laundry.  Why won't that job ever end?

Got the itch to play in the dirt!!  Guess it is time to garden again.  Turned on the sprinklers to water part of the garden, grape vines and such.  Jacob wanted to water the grapes, so he picked up the hose, sprayed down the wall next to the vines.  I asked him to water the tree, he sprayed that down nicely.  I peeked over at him later and saw him contemplating if he should drink out of the hose her not.  He chose to drink, it was really cute!!

I love spell check, I am a horrible speller.  So, between spell check and my mom who proof reads my posts I think I am able to look literate.  Isn't that nice?

Really want to do something in the dirt... so I went out to our front side yard and sprayed the weeds.  It is a relief to get that done.  We have so many "poky" plants.

Emma and David were sick all last week.  Or should I say, Emma was sick all last week.  David was just sick on Monday, however David stayed home all week with Emma because if we mentioned that he would be going without Emma tears welled up in his eyes and we knew that we wouldn't be able to get him out the door.

So, they went back today.  I stood with David by the van for 10 minutes trying to convince him to walk to his class.  He kept talking about how horrible school is.  Finally I walked him part way there and coach came up to say hello and offered to walk with him to class.  David said "no"  then walked briskly to class.  It is heart breaking to send him away so sad.

When I picked him up he was so excited.  He said, "Mom, I learned so much about Abraham Lincoln today!"  Then he showed me a large piece of paper that had three columns.  1.  What Abe did.  2.  What we both did.  3.  What I do.  I am so glad that he had a good day.

Emma is going to have her ears cleaned out on Thursday.  This will be good.  She is having a hard time hearing us.  We have to go to an ENT to get it done.  $30.00 copay.  I really shouldn't complain, at least I am able to take them to a specialist.

I need to make an appointment for Jacob to be seen by an ENT also.  He is possibly tongue tied and his speech will be evaluated.  He may have to get his tongue clipped.  He is also having problems breathing when he sleeps.  It is scary.  Pa says I sound exactly the same.  We will have to see if his tonsils are the problem or if something else is making him have a breathing problem.  David had his tonsils out when he was 4.  The doctors said they were probably the biggest tonsils they'd have seen.  I just hope we don't have to deal with that type of surgery again.  It was horrible!!

While at the doctors last week with Emma, Abby started having sympathy pains.  So I asked the nurse if she could humor Abby a bit by looking her over.  The nurse said, "You're as healthy as a horse!!"  Then later when Emma was taking her medication Abby asked where hers was.  Emma said, "Abby, you're as healthy as a horse!!  That is what the doctor told you!"  I wonder if Abby will grow out of this.  Is this why sisters don't get along?  The younger sister has to be just like the older?  And what if we have another girl?  Will that help the situation or make it worse?

I need to go make something for dinner.  If there was one thing I could change today it would be that I could feed my family healthy meals and not struggle so much with, "what's for dinner?"

Anyone know of a free web site that helps you feed your family healthy meals?  I don't mind cooking it.  It is just figuring out what to cook.

6 eggs today from the chickens!!

Sunday

I went to church by myself yesterday.  My kids have been coughing.
So, I left Pa at home with the little ones.
Last time I went to church without my family it was really strange.
I felt awkward and out of place.  This time, I felt the spirit so strong.
I felt enlightened.  I loved being there.

I don't really remember what each persons testimony were about.

One guy got up who just moved into the ward this past week.  He grew up in Show Low.

Another man got up and shared with us how blessed he is to have such a wonderful wife.
He said that he found out why men and women want to get married.
Women get married because they want to change the man.
Men get married because the like the woman.
He said that she changed him and he still loves her.
It was tender.

A father and husband got up and said how his wife was tired and just didn't feel like going to church that day.  He said that they had to go to church because he didn't want anyone to think he missed church because of the super bowl.  He also said how grateful he was to everyone that was at church and their example of being there and not at the super bowl game.

Another lady got up and bore her testimony of journals.

Another spoke of her love for her Heavenly Father, that she knows that he knows her by name.  That he knows each of us by name.  He knows what makes us tick, what makes us individuals.

Brand new parents got up to bare their testimonies of the gratitude of the new baby in their home.  They have waited for another baby I think she said for 9 or 10 years.  They have 2 older children but it took quite a while for them to receive this new little blessing.

Each of these people shared their testimonies of Christ.

After sacrament meeting I had a hard time talking with anyone because of the beautiful spirit that I felt.

I felt of my Heavenly Fathers love for me.  I felt a grater love for my husband.
I saw an elderly couple walk in the hallway, the husband took his wife to the restroom.  He gave her a gentle kiss as they parted.
I chuckled because I could picture Pa and I that way.  Just as old as can be but with a love that is so strong.
He is truly my best friend.

I have been thinking a lot lately about what is important and what the world thinks is important.

When we first meet a new person.  We ask the basic questions.
Where are you from?
What brought you out this way?
What kind of work are you in?
How many children do you have?

I have been thinking.
True success isn't what you have done in a profession.
True success is more what have you done in your home.
How are you raising your children?
Are you raising them to be happy and content with who they are?
Are they nice to others?
Are you nice to others?
If another is mean to them do you teach them to get sad about it?  Do you teach them to let it get to them?  Or do you teach them that others sometimes are not happy with who they are and that it is up to us to try and help them know and realize that they have a Heavenly Father who loves them?  Are they taught to be mean back or to be nice?

I wonder, what am I teaching my kids?
Are they nice?
Are they Christlike?
Do they understand how much I love them?
Am I  a good example to them?

I hope so.

Being in the Van Club

When I was in high school I was very, or should I say terribly shy. I was so shy that if someone looked at me just the wrong or right way, I could feel a burning in my face and I knew that I either had to get out of the room or make my blond hair drop in front of my face before the redress could be seen by others.

It never worked (covering up my blushing). I would get stares, people would say mean things that would make it even harder to get rid of that burning feeling. Even if someone said something nice to me I would turn RED.

So, when it came time to start driving, I got to learn on a VW Van. Yes, I think most everyone out there would say and think, "that is soooo cool!!!"

No it isn't! Not when you are soooo shy!!!

(This is a photo from some else, hope they don't mind me borrowing it.)

The van that I drove looked very much like the one pictured. It was a standard. I remember my mom taking me out to the steepest hill in Prescott Valley. She would have me stop midway up the hill and then try to go again without it sliding back down the hill. This hill was dirt, and I slid many times. And to top it all off I had a guy friend that wasn't afraid to tease me about things like this who lived close to this hill.

Well, I learned to drive it and I had to take it to school.

Oh, the looks I got. The peace signs that were thrown my way. I felt like the seat wasn't close enough to the steering wheel so I would sit away from the seat leaning into the steering wheel, those teenagers laughed about that.

Can you see the humiliation I was going through. I felt like it was torture!

But it wasn't it was just a good learning experience. Maybe it was to help me learn how to control my red face problem. I don't know. I laugh about it now.

So, the point is. I was having flashbacks when Pa wanted to get a big van. Thinking that we would get lots of looks. Starting to feel the face go red.

But then we got it. People looked... a lot. But it hasn't bothered me. I feel like I am a cool individual with style!

We were out driving the other day in the BIG Van and we would see others in BIG Vans they wave, smile, and my favorite they stare with big grins on their faces. You know what they are thinking. (That is soooo COOL!)

Pa said, "I like being in the van club." Then he went on to say, "The people are nice."

House

Back in July we put in new double pain windows.
We put a new coat of paint on it.
We have also...
Changed faucets in both bathrooms and kitchen.
Taken out eucalyptus trees, and replaced them with lemon, orange, apple and banana trees.
Planted grape vines and a couple bougainvillea plants.
Built a chicken run in the back yard.  Could also be a dog run or a garden area.
Put up new fans in each of the rooms.
New tile in the laundry room.
New light fixture on the front of the house.

So, what is that saying, put a sign up and sell her??
Would anyone want to buy this beauty??

We have dreams of living on a large piece of land in a small town.
A place where we could have our chickens and a goat, maybe a cow and a horse.
Maybe even a house that is larger than 945 square feet.

Something Bigger

We sold our Jeep.  It was a lot of fun, we just had a small problem.  We didn't all fit.
So we bought this beast of a passenger van.
Pa can't wait to go camping in it!!

The Babysitter

Meet The Babysitter

A friend of ours brought this Flinstone car over for Jacob.  It was a good babysitter for a little less than a month.

The first night he sat in it till his head was bobbing.

The following Days, if he HAD to get out, and if anyone looked at it funny he was quick to reprimand us.  It is true, he got up to get a drink and I was looking in the direction of his car.  Jacob glanced at me, then he quickly did one of those double looks.  Then I got it... He said, "Mama, you no touch!!  No Mama!!"

He is still pretty possessive, but manages to share on occasion.

Four Turning Five

Something about the age 4 turning 5 and going to class on your own is a great landmark!!

When David was that age he finally started going to his church class on his own.  It was just like night and day.

Well, I guess this is Abby year.  I did bribe her a bit, I promised I would paint her fingernails if she stayed in class the whole time.

She loved class and she couldn't wait for Sunday to come again.

Last year I was called to be a Nursery Leader, so that meant I would be the teacher for the kids that are 18 months to 3 years.  Abby was supposed to be in the next class up.  Well she missed the entire year.  She would worry starting Friday about going to church and the possibility of going to class by herself.

This year we got a new primary president and she is sooo upbeat and ready to help where ever needed.  She found out that Abby missed her class all last year so she buddied up with Abby and told her that, "She really doesn't want to be in nursery because all they do is play with baby toys and wouldn't you rather be in your own class where you can see funner things."  I think Abby liked her enthusiasm and it peaked her interest.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!  Is all I can say!
